The complete guide
Hiring a wedding party band in Dubai: line-ups, set lists and the first dance, explained
The band is the part of a wedding guests remember a year later. The ceremony is for the couple and the dinner is for the families, but the party is for everyone, and whether the dance floor fills at the first song or empties after three depends almost entirely on the band you choose. This guide explains the wedding party bands Luminart produces in Dubai, how a party set is structured from the first dance to the last song, how we handle mixed guest lists and song requests, what every booking includes and what to budget. For the full wedding day, from ceremony to send-off, see our wedding entertainment page.
Wedding party bands you can book
- Four-piece pop and soul band. Singer, keys, guitar, bass and drums playing pop, soul, funk and disco from the 70s to today. The wedding standard: full enough for a ballroom of 200, and the format most couples in Dubai book.
- Party band with horns. Six or more musicians with a brass section and two vocalists, choreographed moments and a set that moves from dinner classics to a full party. For large weddings that want a show, not just a band.
- Band with two singers. A male and a female lead so the set covers everything from Bruno Mars to Whitney Houston, with duets for the first dance and the parents' dance.
- Multi-genre band for mixed guest lists. A band whose singers switch between English, Arabic, Spanish, Italian or French songs, so every side of the family hears its own hits. See our Arabic, Latin and Italian pages.
- Band plus DJ. The band plays two or three sets and hands over to a DJ, with a saxophonist or percussionist bridging the two, so the music never stops until the last guest leaves.
- Singer with DJ. A vocalist and a saxophonist performing over the DJ for smaller weddings, villa weddings and after-parties where a full band is too much.
How a wedding party set is structured
- The entrance. The couple walks into the reception to a song arranged by the band, live, and the band is already on stage so the first dance can follow without a gap.
- The first dance. Arranged for the couple's song in the key and tempo they want, rehearsed in advance, with the option of the band joining halfway so guests are invited onto the floor.
- Dinner set. Forty minutes of standards, soul and acoustic pop at conversation volume while the courses are served, quiet during the speeches.
- Party sets. Two or three sets of 45 minutes building from 80s and 90s favourites to current hits, with the songs your guests requested placed where they land best.
- Handover to the DJ. The saxophonist or percussionist plays over the DJ for the first tracks so the floor never empties during the changeover.
- The last song. Chosen by the couple, played live, then the send-off.
Weddings for mixed and multicultural guest lists
Most weddings we produce in Dubai bring together two or three cultures. Our wedding party bands are built for that: singers who perform in English and Arabic, or English and Spanish, or English and Italian, a repertoire that moves from Amr Diab to Coldplay and from Bad Bunny to Abba in the same set, and, when the families ask, an Arabic tabla and oud moment, a Bollywood number with dancers or a flamenco interlude produced by the same team under the same contract. Tell us who is coming and we build the set list so that every table gets up at least once.
What every wedding party band booking includes
- Production-grade sound and stage lighting with our operator, sized for the room, or coordination with the venue's AV team.
- The first dance and entrance songs arranged and rehearsed, plus the songs you request, learned before the wedding.
- A run-of-show agreed with your planner: entrance, first dance, speeches, cake, party sets and the last song, cued by our stage manager on the night.
- A guaranteed backup musician for every performer, so illness never becomes your problem.
- A fixed, itemised price with a formal agreement and invoice.
Budget guide for a wedding party band in Dubai
Bands are priced by line-up, hours and production rather than by guest count. Every event is quoted individually. Adding a saxophonist, an Arabic, Latin or Italian interlude or a dance show is priced as an add-on, and travel within the UAE is included. Every proposal is a fixed price with everything itemised, delivered within two hours of your brief.
How to book
- Tell us about the wedding. Date, venue, guest count, who is coming and the moments you want live. A WhatsApp message is enough.
- Receive a shortlist. Within two hours: two or three bands with recent live wedding videos, a fixed price and a suggested running order.
- Confirm. A 30% deposit secures the date and the band.
- Prepare. We agree the first dance, the entrance, your requests and the timing with your planner and venue, and the band rehearses your songs.
- Enjoy the party. Our team arrives early, sound-checks before guests arrive and follows the agreed programme.
Frequently asked questions about wedding party bands in Dubai
How much does a wedding party band cost in Dubai?
Every event is quoted individually, based on the line-up, the hours and the production. Every proposal is a fixed, itemised price delivered within two hours.
Will the band learn our first dance song?
Yes. The first dance and the entrance song are arranged for the band in the key and tempo you want and rehearsed before the wedding, and we can build the song so the band invites guests onto the floor halfway through.
Can the band play both Arabic and Western songs?
Yes. Our multi-genre wedding bands have singers who perform in English and Arabic, or English and Spanish or Italian, and we can add an Arabic tabla and oud moment or a Latin or Italian interlude under the same contract.
How many hours does a wedding band play?
A standard wedding booking covers the entrance, the first dance, a dinner set and two or three party sets of 45 minutes over four to five hours, and it can be extended by the hour or handed over to a DJ for the late part of the night.
Should we book a band or a DJ for the wedding party?
Most couples book both. The band gives the reception its live moments, from the entrance to the party sets, and the DJ keeps the floor full late into the night. A saxophonist or percussionist playing over the DJ makes the handover seamless.
How far in advance should we book a wedding band?
Two to three months is comfortable for a wedding date, and the October to April season, December and National Day week fill early, so for those dates we recommend booking as soon as the venue is confirmed. Last-minute bookings are always possible, subject to availability: the most sought-after artists are booked first, which is the risk of leaving it late, but there is always the option of finding the best available performer for your date.
Do you also cover the ceremony and the cocktail hour?
Yes. A string quartet, a solo pianist or a singer with guitar for the ceremony and cocktails, then the band for the party, all under one contract and one point of contact. See our wedding entertainment page for the full day.
